Never Let a Good Crisis Go to Waste
I don’t know if it was the Democrats or Republicans who said that, but first time I heard it I said – “Disgusting!” But here I am ready to recommend that very notion to you. Yep, during an economic downturn like we’re facing, during a nasty crisis like we are living in, there’s a sales opportunity you don’t want to miss out on. It’s not your normal monthly quota of widgets you should be trying to sell. No one will want to buy your product or service when they are scrambling for survival. But there is one item you can “sell.” One item that never goes out of style or is never unimportant – even in a crisis. Loyalty.
This is the time when your customers simply want transparency, and honesty, and . . . well, and you. Bo Bothe, CEO of Brand Extract says “People will remember those who treat them with integrity and purvey honest information, not gimmicks during a crisis.” Communicate. That’s what we all need to be doing with our customers right now. Not about gimmicks or sales. Let’s not be tone deaf to what’s happening all around us. But communicate. Stay in touch. Be honest and transparent. Show them you care. At least that’s how I see it.
